About

The Coro Youth Fellows Program is a six-week full-time summer leadership development program for rising high school juniors and seniors in the Greater Los Angeles area, run by Coro California. Coro is one of the oldest civic leadership organizations in the United States, founded in 1942, with a 15,000-person alumni network that spans government, nonprofit, business, and community sectors. The YFP is the high school version of Coro's flagship post-graduate Fellows in Public Affairs program, which has trained civic leaders for over 80 years.

Fellows meet daily in Downtown Los Angeles for six weeks, combining facilitated leadership seminars, short professional internship placements across civic and public sector organizations, a "Logic Study" — a structured group investigation of how Los Angeles institutions actually work, conducted through site visits, expert interviews, and independent research — and cohort-led Focus Days examining specific community challenges. Tuition is $6,000 (subsidized from $12,000 by sponsors), with need-based scholarships available. The application deadline for 2026 is April 28, with an early decision deadline of March 24. Applicants must live or attend school in Greater Los Angeles and commit to full daily attendance throughout the program.

For a Los Angeles-area student with genuine interest in public affairs, civic leadership, or careers across the public and nonprofit sectors, the Coro YFP offers a substantive and professionally connected six weeks — grounded in an organization with a track record few civic leadership programs can match.
