Stanford’s Clinical Anatomy Summer Program (CASP) is a one-week, in-person summer experience held at the Stanford Division of Clinical Anatomy for high school students interested in medical and health-related professions. The curriculum combines faculty-led lectures with hands-on laboratory activities and surgical workshops, such as suturing and dissection, designed to connect anatomical theory to clinical practice. A central component of the program is the use of real human anatomical specimens and cadavers, and Stanford explicitly advises applicants to consider their comfort level with this environment prior to applying.
The 2026 program follows a full-day schedule from 9:00 AM to approximately 4:00 PM and offers four sessions: Session 1 from June 8–12, Session 2 from June 22–26, Session 3 from July 6–10, and Session 4 from July 20–24. CASP is a non-residential program, meaning students are responsible for their own housing and daily transportation to campus. Participants must be at least 15 years old by their session's start date to be eligible.
Admission is selective and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, though the formal application window for 2026 officially closes on March 6. The total program fee is $4,000. Upon acceptance, a $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within seven days to secure a seat, and the remaining tuition balance of $3,000 is due by May 8, 2026. While early submission is encouraged due to high demand, all students are evaluated based on their academic record and the thoroughness of their application responses.
CASP’s anatomy labs and surgical demonstrations use real human anatomical specimens made possible through the generosity of body donors -- making CASP one of the very rare precollege programs to offer this experience.
