About

UVA Advance is designed for motivated high-school students who want a structured, credit-bearing introduction to college academics at a flagship public university. Participants enroll in six credits of undergraduate-level coursework through the University of Virginia’s Summer Session, studying alongside UVA undergraduates in Charlottesville. As a four-week residential program, participants live on campus in air-conditioned residence halls and access academic and student-life resources, including libraries and athletic facilities. Coursework consists of one program-specific core course and one elective, allowing students to explore university-level expectations in a rigorous but supported setting. Eligibility requirements, including a minimum 3.5 GPA and application review, ensure participants are prepared for accelerated coursework. UVA Advance is often chosen by students seeking a traditional academic summer experience focused on real college classes and residential life. For families evaluating course-based pre-college options, UVA Advance offers a clear and academically substantive pathway into credit-bearing university study.
