Explore@UNC is a one-week summer academic enrichment program that allows high school students to explore academic majors and college life at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program is not an open-enrollment undergraduate summer session; instead, students register for two-day "tracks" designed specifically for high schoolers to "test-drive" disciplines like neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and journalism. These offerings emphasize interactive learning, lab tours, and faculty interaction rather than transcript acceleration. Explore@UNC is designed as a commuter-only program, where students travel to campus each day and return home in the evening; it does not offer on-campus residential housing. Courses do not carry UNC undergraduate credit. This program is best suited for curious students seeking a low-pressure, less challenging experience than traditional for-credit summer session classes geared for undergraduate rigor.
