About

The University of Miami’s Pre-College Programs offer high-school students the opportunity to explore college-level academics within a private research university known for strengths in health sciences, business, and marine science. Miami provides two primary pathways: the three-week, credit-bearing Summer Scholars Program (earning six undergraduate credits) and the two-week, non-credit UM Academies. Academic offerings reflect the university’s unique location, featuring tracks like Marine Mammal Biology & Conservation and Cancer Biology. Residential participants live in the Centennial Village or Mahoney Residential Colleges in Coral Gables and engage in excursions to the Everglades and Miami’s cultural hubs, while commuter and select virtual tracks (such as Intensive English) broaden access. Admission is selective; applicants must have a 3.0+ GPA and submit holistic materials including recommendations and transcripts. For families seeking a research-driven summer experience, Miami Pre-College provides a flexible and well-rounded introduction to university-level study.
