UC Irvine’s Summer Session for High School Students allows motivated students to enroll directly in undergraduate-level UCI courses and earn college credit within a large public research university setting. Participants may attend residentially, commute locally, or take select courses online, choosing from a broad catalog of offerings across STEM, social sciences, and the humanities. High school students—specifically rising juniors and seniors with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA—study alongside UCI undergraduates during two 5-week or one 10-week session. Residential participants live on campus and access academic resources and student-life programming, while commuter and online formats (offering over 300 virtual sections) expand access for regional and international students. Enrollment is based on meeting eligibility thresholds and is processed on a first-come, first-served basis starting March 1, reflecting the rigor of UCI’s academic environment. For families evaluating UC-based summer options, UCI Summer Session offers a flexible and academically substantive pathway into college-level study.
