Auburn University Veterinary Camps are a series of week-long, residential summer programs for high school students interested in exploring veterinary medicine and animal health care. Offered through the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in partnership with the Office of Professional & Continuing Education, these camps give participants hands-on exposure to the breadth of veterinary science through classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and work with live animals in a range of settings, including raptor, equine, dairy, beef, and swine units on campus.
Each summer, several age-specific sessions are offered: a camp for rising 9th–10th graders (June 22–26, 2026) that introduces foundational veterinary topics, a camp for rising 11th graders (June 15–19, 2026) with deeper clinical activities, and a Senior Vet Camp for rising 12th graders (June 8–12, 2026) focused on advanced animal health skills. All sessions blend hands-on learning with discussions about public health, wildlife care, anatomy, imaging, and first-aid techniques under the guidance of faculty and veterinary students.
Participants live in Auburn residence halls, eat in campus dining facilities, and take part in evening social and recreational activities. Camp fees for 2026 are $1,300, which covers housing, meals, instruction, materials, and transportation for scheduled field activities. Registration for the 2026 sessions opened on December 16, 2025; because spaces are limited and highly sought after, they are generally filled on a first-come, first-served basis shortly after the portal opens.
Admission is based on the grade the student will enter in the fall. Because these experiences are embedded within one of the nation’s established veterinary colleges, they function as robust early exposure to the academic and professional life of a veterinarian. The program provides a realistic preview of the veterinary school curriculum and the diverse career pathways available within the field of animal medicine.
Auburn’s Veterinary Camps take place in facilities used by the College of Veterinary Medicine’s professional degree programs, giving campers rare access to animal care units and teaching labs that support real veterinary education and clinical training.
