About

The Scripps College Academy (SCA) Scholars program is a selective, multi-year college access initiative for high-achieving young women from underrepresented backgrounds in the greater Los Angeles and Inland Empire area. The program begins with an intensive two-week residential summer experience on the Scripps College campus for rising juniors, where students live in dorms and engage in faculty-led seminars exploring race, class, and gender. Admission is competitive, targeting current high school sophomores who meet eligibility criteria such as being first-generation or from a Title 1 school. The program is non-credit and emphasizes academic confidence and critical thinking rather than transcript acceleration. Following the summer, SCA Scholars receive sustained, year-round support through senior year, including SAT/ACT workshops, faculty mentorship, and a 6:1 faculty-to-student STEAM research program. SCA Scholars functions as a comprehensive pipeline to highly selective colleges, providing all programming, housing, and meals at no cost to the participants.
