The Reed College Young Scholars Program allows a small number of academically advanced high school seniors to enroll directly in one undergraduate course for the full academic year. Participants must demonstrate that they have exhausted their high school’s curricula in the subject of interest and must interview with the Associate Dean of Special Programs. Because courses are regular Reed seminars, they emphasize intensive reading, writing, and discussion alongside matriculated undergraduates. The program is commuter-based and does not offer on-campus housing, reflecting its focus on local regional access. Successful completion results in an official Reed transcript with transferable college credit.
