About

The NYU Pre-College program is designed for high-school juniors and seniors eager to take college-level courses in the heart of New York City. At NYU, participants join the global campus community—live on-campus, commute, or join online—and choose from a robust curriculum spanning STEM, arts, business, media, and social sciences with dozens of options over the six-week summer term. With access to NYU’s undergraduate classes alongside students worldwide, the program also provides residence hall life, city-based cultural experiences, and full access to university resources—from libraries to tutoring to extra-curricular events. Admission is selective rather than open-enrollment, reflecting the program’s academic expectations and university setting, and an unusual benefit is the ability to enroll in a 5-week non-credit Writing Workshop, where students can learn college-level writing skills from NYU faculty. Families should also note that although NYU Pre-College is limited to rising seniors and rising juniors, reflecting its academic rigor, there are many other NYU summer opportunities for underclassmen and younger students. For families seeking exciting academic exploration at a major urban research university in the nation’s largest city, NYU Pre-College offers a clear pathway into college-level study and residential campus life.
