LaunchX Entrepreneurship Summer Programs is a suite of applied innovation programs for high school students, originally founded within the MIT entrepreneurship ecosystem. Rather than following a traditional classroom model, the programs utilize an accelerator-style approach that guides students through the end-to-end process of venture creation—from problem identification and market validation to prototyping and pitching to real investors.
For the 2026 season, LaunchX has introduced a year-round lineup that includes in-person accelerators and virtual specialized tracks. The premier offering is the In-Person Flagship Entrepreneurship Program (July 12 – August 8, 2026), a four-week residential intensive hosted at the University of California, San Diego. This flagship experience costs $11,495 and can be paired with the San Diego Exploration Program (June 28 – July 11, 2026), a two-week introductory track focused on customer discovery and prototyping for $6,495. Together, these create a six-week continuous stay, the longest in the organization's history.
The virtual 2026 lineup offers varied levels of commitment and focus. The Online Flagship Entrepreneurship Program (July 13 – August 14, 2026) is a five-week full-time startup launch costing $6,495. For students seeking professional experience within existing ventures, the Online Startup Experience (June 1 – July 24, 2026) is an eight-week, part-time internship where students work 5–10 hours per week inside real startups for $4,495. Additionally, the Online Innovation Program (June 8 – June 26, 2026) provides a three-week full-time "intrapreneurship" experience solving corporate challenges for $4,995.
Programs are open to high school students ages 14–18, though the Online Startup Experience is open to participants up to age 22. Admission is highly competitive, with flagship tracks typically maintaining an acceptance rate of approximately 30%. For the 2026 cycle, the Financial Award Deadline is February 11, 2026, and the Final Deadline is March 4, 2026. Tuition for in-person programs includes housing and meals, and need-based financial awards are available for most tracks.
LaunchX prioritizes tangible deliverables and professional skill development over academic credit. Participants leave the program with a validated business model, a functional prototype, and a pitch deck, supported by a global network of mentors and peers. The experience is designed to equip young founders with the technical fluency and entrepreneurial mindset required to continue their ventures or pursue advanced study in business and technology.
LaunchX traces its origins to collaborations with MIT’s entrepreneurship community, and its curriculum is structured around startup accelerator-style milestones rather than lecture-based business courses, making it one of the few programs that supports high schoolers in the full cycle of venture ideation, validation, and launch within a summer timeframe.
