Kenyon College’s Camp 4 (formerly CAMP) is a selective, access-oriented college-preparation initiative designed to support high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds, rather than a traditional open pre-college summer program. Participation is highly selective, with admission based primarily on application essays and counselor assessments. The program is a three-week residential experience on the Gambier campus that combines small, faculty-led academic seminars—such as neuroscience and Black history—with intensive individual counseling on college admissions and financial aid. The junior-level track is non-credit and enrichment-focused, while a limited senior-level pathway allows some participants to earn Kenyon College credit under defined conditions. Students live on campus and work closely with mentors in a small-cohort setting that emphasizes readiness for highly selective liberal arts colleges. Camp 4 functions as a targeted access pipeline, including a loan-free financial aid commitment for participants who later enroll at Kenyon and demonstrate financial need.
