    About

The Summer Pre-College Nursing Program at Adelphi University is a three-week immersive experience for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. For 2026, the program runs from July 12 to August 1 at Adelphi’s Garden City campus. Titled "Introduction to Nursing as a Career and Profession," the course awards 3 transferable college credits and introduces participants to the fundamentals of patient care, medical terminology, and health assessment.

Participants engage in hands-on practice within Adelphi’s state-of-the-art Clinical Education and Simulation Lab, working with high-fidelity manikins to simulate real-world medical scenarios. A unique feature of the 2026 curriculum is the opportunity for students to earn their American Heart Association CPR certification. The program also includes clinical site visits on Fridays and guest lectures from working healthcare professionals to showcase the diversity of nursing specialties.

The 2026 application deadline is June 12, though early submission is encouraged as spots fill on a rolling basis. Residential tuition is $4,540, covering 3 credits, housing, and meals; a commuter option is available for $3,190. While Adelphi does not offer direct scholarships for this program, participants who later enroll as full-time undergraduate students at Adelphi automatically qualify for the Adelphi Advantage Award, a $1,000 scholarship.

Instruction is led by faculty from the College of Nursing and Public Health, emphasizing both the technical rigors and the humanistic "art" of nursing. Participants conclude the three weeks with 3 college credits, a professional certification, and a concrete understanding of the nursing profession.
