About

Indiana University Bloomington’s OPEN Program allows qualified high school juniors and seniors to enroll in undergraduate courses for IU credit. To participate, students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and receive a recommendation from their high school counselor. Contrary to some nationwide enrollment models, the OPEN Program requires students to live within commuting distance of the Bloomington campus with a parent or legal guardian. Students register on a space-available basis for regular IU classes alongside matriculated undergraduates, with successful completion resulting in an official university transcript. While IU offers IU High School Online for students worldwide to earn high school credit, the university-level OPEN pathway does not provide on-campus housing and is not a residential summer experience. This model is best suited for local students seeking academic acceleration through a flexible, credit-focused university immersion.
