About

The Colorado Ballet Academy (CBA) Summer Intensive in Denver is an audition-based classical training program for students aged 10–20. Held from June 10 – July 10, 2026, the intensive offers two, three, and five-week sessions. The curriculum provides rigorous daily training in ballet technique, pointe (required for female-identifying participants), men’s technique, contemporary, character, and Flamenco, led by Colorado Ballet faculty and guest instructors.

Tuition for 2026 ranges from $1,795 to $3,495 depending on session length. Residential students (ages 11–17) are housed at Lynx Crossing at CU Denver, where the package includes meals, activities, and mentorship from Colorado Ballet company dancers. A new housing option at the Nita is also available for students traveling with a guardian.

Auditions are required, with a tour hitting cities like Phoenix, Seattle, and Chicago in early 2026. Applicants must provide photos in first arabesque and a headshot. Training days are immersive, including "Life Skills" classes on nutrition and injury prevention alongside core studio work. The program concludes with an informal demonstration at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (2-week session) or a full performance at the King Center(3 and 5-week sessions).

Because CBA is the official school of the Colorado Ballet, the intensive serves as a primary evaluation tool for the Pre-Professional Division and the Studio Company. This positioning makes the program a high-stakes training ground for dancers seeking a career in professional ballet. Supplemental cross-training, such as Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT) and Pilates, ensures a holistic approach to dancer health, distinguishing this intensive as a conservatory-style experience.
