The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) is a multi-tiered competition designed to find the nation's most talented high school chemistry students. The process begins with local section exams, which qualify students for the National Exam. Only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for the National Exam, which consists of both a theoretical test and an experimental lab component. The top 20 scorers from the National Exam are invited to a rigorous Study Camp, where they receive college-level training in preparation for the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). The four students selected to represent the U.S. team at the IChO compete globally, offering an exceptional opportunity for recognition in advanced chemistry.
