About

The United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) is a highly selective individual competition for top math students in the US and Canada, serving as the final stage before the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP). Qualification is strictly invitation-based, requiring exceptional scores on both the AMC 12 and the AIME. Unlike the multiple-choice or quick-answer format of previous contests, the USAMO is a challenging, proof-based assessment that demands deep understanding and rigorous mathematical argumentation. Success in the USAMO can lead to Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention awards, and is the primary route for consideration for the official U.S. International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) team. The competition is free to take if invited.
