Students register online, may request a mentor, and submit up to three posters: one on a listed topic and one for each special category entered. Each student may appear only once, as an individual or as part of a single team, and schools may enter as many students or teams as they have. Nominees are announced in March. Grand Prize and Special Award winning teams, with their teacher, receive a trophy and grants for the school’s art department; finalists receive certificates, and special categories carry cash prizes.
The organizer publishes no entry totals and lists no cash amounts, and the awards ceremony is held in Los Angeles, so national standing cannot be stated. The grants go to the school’s art department, which makes the teacher’s involvement part of the prize.
A finalist or winner shows a student’s design was chosen to carry a public safety message.
First place winner receives $500
