Quill and Scroll offers multiple contests in journalism, writing, photography, and multimedia throughout the school year. The Yearbook Excellence Contest opens for entries around October 1, and the Writing, Visual, Multimedia Contest typically opens for entries around February 6. The organization also hosts the Student Journalism Impact Award and a contest for the Private School Journalism Association. While all high school grades can participate in the awards, membership in the Quill and Scroll Honor Society requires students to be juniors or seniors in the upper third of their class in general scholastic standing. Winning an award can make seniors eligible to apply for scholarships.
