A supervisor aged 21 or older registers teams and starts each team’s clock; teams then choose their own start time within the window, work together, and submit answers on the contest website. Middle school teams answer 20 problems in 60 minutes, and high school teams answer 30 in 90. Awards are First place, Second place, and Honorable Mention within categories for large schools, small schools, and mixed or homeschool teams; unrestricted teams do not compete for awards. Winning teams are posted after the window closes, and certificates of award or participation go to all students.
Because the score is the number of problems solved out of 20 or 30, the top ranks saturate: in the latest results, nine middle school mixed teams tied for first with a perfect 20. The organizer publishes no team total, so how many teams compete cannot be stated. Entry is free.
A First place or Honorable Mention marks a top-scoring team in its category.
