The National Science Bowl is a prestigious, fast-paced academic competition where teams of 4 to 5 high school students are tested on their knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics, and math in a tournament-style format. The competition is open to students in grades 9-12 and takes place across regional and national levels.
Success in the competition requires teams to advance through a structured, often double-elimination, tournament. All team members must compete at a regional event to qualify for the National Finals, and if eligible, must commit to attending all Finals events and activities, as no waivers are granted for conflicting schedules. This high level of commitment, along with the team-based rapid-fire questioning, defines the event.
