The National Geographic Bee (which is part of the International Geography Bee in the US) is a competition for students in grades 9-12, offering individual participation at regional, national, and international levels. Students born before July 1, 2010 compete in the Varsity Division. Participation requires fees, including a $95 online National Qualifying Exam fee for Varsity and JV divisions, a $50 Regional Tournament Bee subject fee, and a $20 Regional Tournament Qualifying Exam fee. High-placing students at the National Finals are awarded prize money and/or college scholarships, with the highest-placing Varsity student receiving a $2,000 scholarship. The contest covers geography, history, and current events.
