Students in grades 9–12, or recent high school graduates, may submit free of charge during a winter window. Writers send fiction or nonfiction under 5,000 words, poems, hybrid work, songs, or scripts under 40 pages, and artists send up to 10 pieces or a portfolio of up to 20. The journal pays nothing and awards no prizes.
Acceptance is publication in a journal edited by Interlochen students, not a competition result, so it should be described as a published credit rather than an award. Founded in 1976 as a print journal and online-only since 2012, the Review gives a young writer a student-edited venue tied to a recognized arts institution.
The Interlochen Review is the right venue for a high school writer or artist who wants recognition in a journal with a recognized name.
