The High School Fed Challenge is a team competition where students author an economics research paper on a selected theme, developing skills in research, data literacy, and analytical writing. The competition is run by the Federal Reserve System and offers students in grades 9–12 an opportunity for national recognition. Teams must be registered by a faculty advisor, and only one team per high school is permitted. All submissions are written. The competition timeline typically runs from a theme announcement in early September (September 9, 2025) to a paper submission deadline in mid-March (March 16, 2026). Top work may be selected for publication in the *Journal of Future Economists*.
