The Congressional App Challenge is a prestigious, district-specific U.S. competition hosted by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives to inspire high school students to pursue careers in computer science. The challenge encourages participants to create and submit an original app using any programming language and on any platform, with no limits on topic or function. The mission is to inspire, include, and innovate efforts around STEM and coding, particularly engaging communities traditionally underrepresented in tech. The challenge launches on May 1st, and the deadline for student submissions is typically October 30th. Winners from each participating congressional district have their apps featured online and may have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, and are invited to attend the annual #HouseofCode event in Washington, D.C.
