The Concord Review is an international journal that publishes exemplary history essays by high school students. Submissions are accepted year-round for four quarterly issues (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) on any historical topic, ancient or modern. Essays must be substantial research papers, typically around 5,000 words (Short) or 10,000+ words (Long), and must include Turabian endnotes and a bibliography.
Papers must be original, completed before enrolling in college, and submitted in MS Word or RTF format without charts, photos, or graphics. A review fee is required with the submission form. The primary reward is publication and recognition in the journal, providing a significant credential for college applications.
Ralph Waldo Emerson Prize of about $3000 (awarded to five outstanding essays per year)
