The Bennington Young Writers Awards is one of the nation's most prestigious writing competitions for high school students worldwide. It celebrates literary achievement in three categories: Poetry, Fiction, and Nonfiction. Submissions are judged solely on literary merit. This free, individual competition accepts entries up to 1500 words in length, but applicants may only submit once per year and must have a high school sponsor review and approve the entry. Distinguished submissions are recognized for each grade level, and all winners and sponsors receive cash prizes. Winners are also eligible for a $10,000 annual scholarship to Bennington College.
First place: $1,000
Second place: $500
Third place: $250 (All winners and their sponsors receive cash prizes)
All winners are eligible for a $10,000 annual scholarship to Bennington College
